Description
General Information Document Type: Sources Sought Notice/Request for Information (RFI) Solicitation Number: FD2020-12-50984 Posted Date: April 17, 2012 Response Date: April 24, 2012 Classification Code: Synopsis Contracting Office Address Department of the Air Force, OO-ALC/GHAK, 6072 Fir Ave BLDG 1233, Hill AFB, UT, 84056 Description This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis and Request for Information. The following information is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting market research of industry to identify sources that meet Air Force requirements. This is neither a request for proposal nor an invitation for bid. There will be no reimbursement for the information provided. This Sources Sought is for A-10 Daniels Kit (NSN 5180-01-045-1821/Part Number DMC239E) acquisition. The A10 Aircraft Division, Hill AFB is seeking to find small business contractors that can provide DMC239 E highly specialized toolkit and DMC1921 backshell kit that was designed and built to support A-10 Aircraft maintenance activities. The A-10 Aircraft has complicated electrical wiring systems containing many different connectors, contacts and terminals. The repair of these systems requires specialized tools/tooling. Once an aircraft becomes non mission capable due to a connector failure, it is imperative to be able to replace a connector as quickly as possible. The DMC239E toolkit supplies Air Force maintenance personnel with the information and tools necessary to make a repair in the shortest time possible. It consists of specialized crimping tools, positioners, insertion tools, removal tools, wire strippers, probes, holding fixtures, wire wrap tools and contact gages. The kits are supplied in a durable tool cabinet and includes foam pads/inserts, contents chart, instruction charts, and tool selection information. Since all the tools are located together in a single kit (with operating instructions and connector cross reference guides), it eliminates costly and time consuming research to identify the proper tool to use. Daniels Manufacturing Corporation (DMC) is the original equipment manufacturer of this item with design control, authorization, and documentation to manufacture the DMC239E and DMC1921. DMC has limited data rights to this item. The Air Force does not have the drawings. An offeror that has previously manufactured this or a similar toolkit, used in several aircraft, may submit a "Source Approval Request" (SAR). If you have any questions please send them to Ryan.hale@hill.af.mil and we will respond as soon as an answer can be obtained. Disclaimer THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS RFI OR TO OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked Proprietary or competition sensitive will be handled accordingly. Responses to the RFI will not be returned. The responses to this notice are not an offer and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract.
