Description
Class VI Navigational Buoys and Class I Floating Mooring Buoys J. Percy Priest and Barkley Dam Scope: The contractor shall supply and deliver 93 each Red Class VI Navigational Buoys, 78ea Green Class VI Navigational Buoys, and 4ea "Danger Dam" Class VI Hazard Buoys, 10 "No Wake" buoys, 5 "Shallow Area" Buoys,6 "Keep Out" buoys and 6 Class I floating mooring buoys in accordance with the specifications provided. These buoys shall conform to the attached drawings and shall conform to all USCG regulations (USCG approved). Specifications: Red Class VI Navigational NUN Buoys: Drawings, pictures, and design specs are attached. This is a 6NR and is designed and constructed for river environment and protected locations, where an unlighted NUN buoy is required. The buoy is foam filled. It shall be approximately 8'4" in length x 1'6 O.D., 165lbs, buoy draft 4'0" with a freeboard of 2'8". The buoys shall be constructed of 18 GA. 607 steel. After welding the buoy shall be completely filled with polyurethane foam. Foam shall meet the requirements of MIL-P-21929, Class I. Fill hole caps shall be rubber or plastic and shall be sized to prevent water penetration. After foaming the exterior of the buoys shall be primed to conform to MIL-P-2441 ("Mare Island Epoxy Primer") Topcoat paint shall be vinyl alkyd enamel conforming to TT-E-2124 of the appropriate color (Red). Red retro-reflective material shall be installed as shown on the drawings. Green Class VI Navigational CAN Buoys: drawings, pictures, and design specs are attached. This is a 6CR and is designed and constructed for river environment and protected locations, where an unlighted CAN buoy is required. The buoy is foam filled. It shall be approximately 7'3" in length x 1'6 O.D., 160lbs, buoy draft 3'10" and a freeboard of 2'6". The buoys shall be constructed of 18 GA. 607 steel. After welding the buoy shall be completely filled with polyurethane foam. Foam shall meet the requirements of MIL-P-21929, Class I. Fill hole caps shall be rubber or plastic and shall be sized to prevent water penetration. This is a 6CT and is designed and constructed for river environment and protected locations, where an unlighted Danger buoy is required. The buoy is foam filled. It shall be approximately 7'3" in length x 1'6 O.D., 160lbs, buoy draft 3'10" 2 and a freeboard of 2'6". The buoys shall be constructed of 18 GA. 607 steel. After welding the buoy shall be completely filled with polyurethane foam. Foam shall meet the requirements of MIL-P-21929, Class I. Fill hole caps shall be rubber or plastic and shall be sized to prevent water penetration. Orange retro-reflective material shall be installed as shown on the drawings. "NO WAKE" regulatory Buoys shall be 9" diameter x 60" tall heavy duty polyethylene type with reflective bands and symbol and 1" I.D. galvanized anchoring eye cast in concrete ballast. The buoys shall be as manufactured by Rolyan Model Rolyan Model # BP61R or equal. "SHALLOW AREA" Regulatory Buoy shall be 9" diameter x 60" tall heavy duty polyethylene type with reflective bands and symbol and 1" I.D. galvanized anchoring eye cast in concrete ballast. The buoys shall be as manufactured by Rolyan Model Rolyan Model # BP61R or equal. "KEEP OUT" Regulatory Float Collar Buoys shall be 19" diameter (collar is 38" diameter) with external ballast and anchor eye. Reflective bands (3" wide) and symbol. The buoys shall be as manufactured by Rolyan Model Rolyan Model # B5CPRM or equal. FLOATING MOORING BUOYS: A request is being made for the fabrication and delivery of six, ten foot diameter steel mooring buoys. Buoys are to be fabricated to the dimensions prescribed in the attached drawing entitled "Mooring Facilities, Floating Mooring Buoy & Details". Construction of these buoys will follow the attached specifications and delivered to the location listed. Buoys are for use along the Nashville District waterways to maintain safe moorage within the established First Class Landings. The mooring buoys are to be constructed in accordance with the attached drawings. Dimensions, type of steel, and welds shall be followed as shown on the drawings. Fill for the buoys shall be rigid urethane foam. Markings Each buoy shall have the letters USCEC welded on the top of the buoy near the fill plug, in three to four inch letters. Finish The buoys shall be primed with a rust resistant primer after the surface has been cleaned and prepared. Paint shall be quality, acrylic enamel, and white in color. After paint has had adequate time to dry, a four inch blue reflective band shall be placed four inches down from the top of the buoy. This band shall be a scotch like tape. Delivery Locations: The shipment and delivery is to be as described hereafter.
