- Services for Friction Stir Welding - RIA-JMTC is looking for companies that have experience with friction stir welding preferably on a DoD Platform. Experience should be in welding 5xxx and 2xxx series aluminum plate; with single pass friction stir welds in plates up to 1.6 inches in thickness; has an understanding of ballistic shock and mine blast testing; can pass MIL-STD-1946 ballistic shock impact testing and will survive mine-blast testing. Must be capable of welding 26 foot x 12 foot x 10 foot and has the following capabilities: rapid prototype fabrication capability, process development, fixture design and fabrication.
