Description
The US Army is surveying the marketplace to determine the availability of additional tire sources or tire/rim sources for the M1000 Heavy Equipment Transporter System (HETS) trailer. The M1000 is used to transport the M1 Series Main Battle Tank during operation. The M1000 contains ten axles each having four tires, for a total of 40 tires per trailer (plus 2 spares). Maximum trailer payload is 140,000 lbs. Tire load at maximum payload is up to 3850 lbs. Testing and qualification are planned to be conducted in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J2014 and ATPD 2130D specification and funded by the Government. The Government is conducting an analysis of alternatives using three different scenarios for additional sources, each with an increasing logistical impact. The first scenario is evaluating a tire in the same size as the M1000 as currently configured (215/75R17.5). The second scenario involves evaluating tire in a different size, but acceptable for use on the existing approved rim (Accuride p/n 28112 17.5X6.75HC). The third scenario involves evaluating tires and wheels in a different size. If responding to third scenario, please include both tire and wheel information. Information provided by vendors will be used by the Government for analysis and requirements development. Only electronic responses are requested. Please provide responses in any of the following formats: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, or Adobe PDF. Please submit electronic responses and any questions prior to full response to Steve Bishel at email address ( steven.g.bishel.civ@mail.mil ). Please format the subject line of the response email as follows; "[Organization Name] response to M1000 Tire Market Survey". INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE QUESTIONNAIRE: 1. Please clearly identify on the document which scenario(s) you are responding. 2. Number each response with the appropriate question number. 3. You do not have to repeat the question in your response. 4. You may use the Minimum Requirements described above to answer the questions in this survey. 5. If you cannot answer the question, please indicate "No Response." 6. If a response will satisfy another question, state: "See response to question XX"." 7. Spell out any acronyms in their first instance.
