This is a sole source notice for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information in this notice. The combined synopsis and Request for Quotation (RFQ) number is: 12TABC00412JA. C. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular Fac 2005-576, Effective 15 Mar 2012. D. Basis for award -- The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. However, all proposals received after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. GENERAL A. The United States Army Tank and Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Warren, Michigan has a requirement for the following service: 1. Development of theory of operation of coupled arrays of spintronic detectors for applications in microwave detection and energy harvesting. 2. Study of the out-of-plane high-amplitude regime of magnetization precession in a spintronic diode for the purposes of microwave energy harvesting. DELIVERABLE: Interim Report - "Applications of spintronic diodes for microwave detection and microwave energy harvesting." Due: 31 September 2012. 3. Evaluation of the amount of energy that can be harvested by the spintronic diode operating in the out-of-plane high-amplitude regime of magnetization precession. 4. Computational algorithm and computer program for evaluation of coupled arrays of spintronic detectors for energy harvesting and incoming signal analysis.
