- Description
- Hydraulic Overview Solicitation FA3089-12-T-0006 Randolph Air Force Base, Texas has a requirement to modify the hydraulic system of an MH-53 aircraft being converted for use as a ground trainer, making possible the operation of the rear cargo ramp and rescue hoist hydraulic systems independent of and isolated from the remainder of the aircraft hydraulic and hydraulically operated systems. The intent is to tap into the hydraulic system with a conventionally available hydraulic power supply and other components to render only the rear ramp and rescue hoist operational. Requirements: •· Isolate rescue hoist and rear cargo door hydraulic systems from the remainder of the aircraft hydraulic systems at a point far enough ahead of the actuators, so as to be controllable using the specific aircraft switches and other controls and indicators for these systems. •· Install an independent hydraulic pump and reservoir system adequate to operate the rescue hoist and rear cargo door systems. •· Drain, cap and isolate unused hydraulic lines. •· Cargo ramp hydraulic cylinders and locks must be operational. •· Rescue Hoist must be operational in both directions, and start and stop realistically for the aircraft. •· Modified hydraulic systems must operate from the original aircraft control systems. •· Both systems may be operated from a joint hydraulic power source. •· Hydraulic pump to be mounted inside the aircraft in an area out of the way of student training. •· Contractor to supply all materials required for the hydraulic system installation Notes: Power to the installed hydraulic system will be provided by the government and the junction box which is provided by the contractor to which this added system components have been terminated. Cargo ramp and rescue hoist hydraulic systems will not be required to operate at the same time. Images are provided in Attachment 1 for general reference.
