- NASA/KSC has a requirement for a quantity of 8 (eight) Space Station Solid StateLighting Assemblies (SSLAs). NASA/KSC intends to purchase the required SSLAs from TheBionetics Corporation. The required 8 (eight) SSLAs are for an ISS derived non-flightAdvanced Exploration System concept demonstrator. The Advanced Exploration System conceptdemonstrator is using excess ISS components/test articles. Therefore, the required SSLAsmust fit in the existing USLAB and MPLM Shells and must fit into the designatedmechanical receptacles and accept station power of 120VDC. These specific SSLA units areonly manufactured by Bionetics. Bionetics is also currently providing SSLAs to the ISSprogram for launch. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to performthe effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. localtime on April 13th 2011. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely forthe purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitivebasis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a fulland open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within thediscretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to thisnotice. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which shall be considered by theagency (Tyronza.Borden@nasa.gov).
