- It is the National Energy Technology Laboratory?s (NETL) intent to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Jeol USA, Inc. to provide a one year gold service level preventative maintenance service contract for the JSM-7600F Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope. This is considered a sole source to Jeol USA Inc. because it is the only company that can service and repair this instrument and make it operate to specifications because the design of the unit, the various detectors, and the software are all of a proprietary design. Jeol is the only company that has the technical capabilities, in-stock parts, and 24-hour response time that is required for this instrument. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a request for quotation or proposal. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
