Description
STATEMENT OF WORK Functional Requirement: Two (2) separate stand-alone systems, each capable of accomplishing in automated fashion all of the tasks specified in ASTM International test procedure D 56 paragraphs 9.2 through 9.7. In particular, the instrument is capable of robotically: 1. Increasing the temperature of the petroleum sample at each of 2 prescribed rates, 1 degree C/minute and 3 degrees C/minute. 2. Heating the electrical ignition source prior to each introduction into the vapor space. 3. Repetitively introducing the heated ignition source into the vapor space above the fuel at prescribed temperature intervals 4. Recording the lowest temperature at which the air/fuel vapor mixture above the liquid sample ignites 5. Correcting observed flash point temperature for ambient barometric pressure at the time and place of the test. 6. Storing all test results for the day's analyses in instrument memory 7. Cooling the liquid bath surrounding the sample cup in an accelerated way to prepare the instrument for next use. 8. Achieving repeatability prescribed in the test method. In other words, when the same sample is analyzed twice using the robotic instrument, the 2 test results obtained will be within 1 degree C of each other for fuel samples with flash points between 38 degrees C and 60 degrees C (see ASTM procedure D 56, paragraph 14.1.1). ASTM D 56-2005, paragraphs 10.1 and 12.5 effectively summarize the operations that an automated instrument must conduct. Utilities Requirement : Each instrument shall be powered by 230V, 50 Hertz electrical power and may additionally use ambient temperature water supply for bath level maintenance, bath cooling purposes. Dimensions : Depth of the instrument shall not exceed 22" to allow bench-top placement of the unit. Footprint of the instrument shall not exceed 350 square inches in order to conserve bench space. http://www.astm.org/DATABASE.CART/D.htm "D56-05(2010) Standard Test Method for Flash Point by Tag Closed Cup Tester"appears near the top of the list and it is the test method which the 2automated Tag Flash Point Analyzers must be able to conduct. *It is highly encouraged for potential offerors to register in the CCR.
