- The Social Security Administration intends to negotiate solely with MicroTechnologies, LLC, 8330 Boone Boulevard Ste 600, Vienna, VA 22182 under the authority of 41 U.S.C (253)(c)(1) as set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subsection 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements" for continued engineering support services for SSA's mainframe, distributed, and telecommunications environments. The resultant contract will have a three month period of performance. MicroTechnologies is the incumbent contractor on the recently expired contract for these services. SSA is planning a competitive acquisition to replace the expired contract. While we are moving forward with the competitive acquisition to replace the expiring contract, SSA will continue to need contractor support for mission-critical enterprise projects in the Agency's mainframe, distributed, and telecommunications arenas. MicroTechnologies has provided this support to SSA for the last five years. MicroTechnologies provides engineering support services that support and assist in fulfilling agency goals for the Strategic Information Technology Assessment and Review projects in critical areas such as implementation of Windows 7 operating system to agency desktops, implementation of Customer Information Control System version 3.2, and development of SharePoint sites. The contractor provides a continuation of support for a wide range of agency strategic initiatives, projects and functions. These projects support major initiatives described in the Agency Strategic Plan and the Information Resources Management Plan to achieve goals and objectives of the agency. In addition, the contractor sustains maintenance of current systems software architecture, developed framework for future architectures at the SSC and NCC. The work performed requires the application of specific computer expertise to the solution of particular issues critical to the successful completion of each project. Currently, only MicroTechnologies can provide the highly skilled and expert support services with the necessary technical knowledge and experience without a break in service while the re-compete is underway. No other vendor has the ability to provide the required level of support without the possibility of a lapse in service to the Agency. There are no other contractual vehicles currently available within the Agency to provide the required support in a timely manner. We have concluded that no source other than MicroTechnologies can satisfy SSA's needs. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a solicitation or request for proposals. The Government will not award a contract from this announcement, or pay for information received. A solicitation is NOT available.
