- Solicitation Number: VA797P-12-R-0016 Special Notice Synopsis: The National Acquisition Center intends to enter into a sole-source contract with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for the procurement of Lamotrigine (Lamictal) a branded medication indicated for the treatment of both adjunctive and monotherapy of partial seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures and for generalization with no generic alternative. This action is to contract for the identified drug which is currently sourced from a non-designated Trades Agreement Act (TAA) country. Lamictal is a patented drug available only from one source, GSK, until its patent expires April 25, 2014. This contract is necessary as Lamotrigine (Lamictal) cannot be therapeutically substituted with other antiepileptic products. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals as Lamotrigine (Lamictal) is protected by patent until April 25, 2014 and only available from GSK. It is anticipated a contract will be awarded for a base and four one-year options.
