Description
1.The winning/approved contractor will furnish all materials, equipment, supervision, and personnel necessary to accomplish the job and perform work specified herein and comply with VA specifications, regulations, procedures and conditions for work at the medical center. The project will involve but not be limited to trades such as framing, carpentry, painting, electrical, fire protection, drillers, elevator mechanics, riggers, finishers and licensed regulated and non regulated waste handlers and transporters. The areas adjacent to the work will be open to the public, accessible and protection of patients, staffers and visitors will be adhered to at all times. Construction, when and where necessary, will be phased to permit pedestrian traffic and coordinated with the VA to delineate necessary barriers, signage etc to be provided. BASE WORK INCLUDES: Construct construction barrier walls at locations determined by the specifications, drawings and at the approval of the COR at each staff opening in compliance with VA, national, state and local fire barrier requirements. Demolition of existing suspended ceilings, grids and elevator components, i.e. doors, trim, controls, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, shafts, etc. that are associated with the old systems and meet new criteria, within the scope of the project and the construction zone. Removal of existing hydraulic cylinder, piston, modification of drilled shaft/casing (concrete plugged), removal of existing liner (non-conformance) and installation of new liner. Construction of modifications to elevators as per specifications, NFPA, NYS Property Maintenance Code, VA, Federal, State and Local codes as they pertain to elevator construction, maintenance and safety in a public facility. Perform mechanical room improvements. All interior shaft walls prepared then plastered, fire stopping installed for finishing demonstrating fire barrier compliance as per NFPA standards. Prime and apply primer and two (2) coats of paint to all corridors, walls and trim five feet adjacent to door entry(s) and/or disturbed areas and paint the complete elevator interior masonry block wall shafts and mechanical rooms. Procure Fire Protection Contractor/Company and install fire alarm systems installation. upgrades or improvements to match, coincide and interface with the latest system on campus and NFPA codes and standards. Sprinkler system installation and/or improvements. Furnish and install car call communication systems. Additionally, Building 15H Elevator P1 and P2 along with Building 21 Elevators P1 and P2 install shunt circuitry for all electrical power feeding the elevator and mechanical rooms and install new wire and conduit to control and coordinate operations between all electrical circuitry and fire alarm controls and devices, sprinkler system controls and devices and elevator operating controls and devices. The Contractor shall include the testing of all fluids associated with this project and provide an addendum for disposal costs for waste of 165 gallons of liquids per unit. Perform all other work shown and necessary on plans and specifications The contractor to provide all necessary site visits, preliminary surveys, and dimensional measurements necessary to provide the VA, VISN 3 with a responsible, professional and firm fixed price to complete this work in a manner that meets the criteria of the plans, specifications and industry standards. The winning contractor shall develop his construction schedule such that the elevator operations shutdown shall not exceed 60 calendar days for each respective elevators from the day the elevators are taken out of service for construction. Signage that the elevators will be out of service will be the responsibility of the winning contractor and shall be put in highly visible locations within the buildings where the work will be performed 15 calendar days prior to de-energizing/shutting down the elevators.
