THIS RFI IS POSTED FOR MARKET RESEARCH DATA GATHERING AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY Request for Information: Information Technology Commodity Agency: General Services Administration Office: GSA, Office of Governmentwide Policy, Central Office Contracting Div. Location: 1275 First Street, NE; Washington, DC 20417 Synopsis: Request for Information (RFI): THIS RFI IS POSTED FOR DATA GATHERING AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY, DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION, AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION OR AWARD A CONTRACT. The Government will not reimburse any respondent for any costs associated with information submitted in response to this RFI. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS RFI IS TO PROMOTE COLLABORATION WITH THE VENDOR COMMUNITY AND ALLOW THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT ON THE DRAFT TABLET REQUIREMENTS. Please provide comments to proposed requirements. As this project advances the RFI may be revised. PLEASE NOTE: COMPANIES WHO RESPONDED TO THE SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE DATED FEBRUARY 6, 2012 (RE: RFI-TABLET-CORRECTION) DO NOT NEED TO RESPOND TO THIS NOTICE. BACKGROUND: The General Services has received many statements of interest from customers within the agency and across government for tablet computers. GSA is considering conducting an acquisition for tablet computers as a small-business set-aside, but lacks information as to whether there are any domestic small-business manufacturers of this commodity, as required under the nonmanufacturer rule. SCOPE: This RFI is being issued to survey industry on the types of tablets that are available on the commercial market that are: (1) Manufactured by a small business in the United States, (2) FIPS 140-2 certified, and (3) meet the federal government's technical specifications and security requirements. The primary end result of this RFI is market research determining whether or not there are any small businesses manufacturing this product in the United States. In addition, the market research will provide information to determine if available products support the federal government's technical specifications and security requirements. OBJECTIVES 1.Identifiy country of of origin for the product(s) identified. 2.Identify whether the product(s) is manufactured by a small business. The applicable NAICS is 334111 (Electronic Computer Manufacturing) under the threshold of 1,000 employees to be considered a small business. 3.The product description below reflects the desired minimum salient characteristics for a tablet. Provide product literature of the item(s) identifying areas that meet or exceed the specifications listed, as well as areas that fail to meet the specification. (1) State if the product is currently on GSA schedule or other Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC). (2) If the product is open market and not on a schedule or GWAC, tell us of any attempts to place the item(s) on a schedule or GWAC. (3) Identify the operating system for any tablet identified. (4) Describe how and to what extent encryption is employed with the chip set (hardware level) and the operating system (OS) and applications. (Block/file encryption). (5) Describe how the tablet integrates in various e-mail platforms (Microsoft Outlook, Google Mail, Lotus Notes, etc). (6) Identify any current federal agencies using the devices and the e-mail and calendar functions that each system operates on. (Past and Current). (7) Identify any federal business partners your firm is working with to develop/improve Enterprise Management (MDM) solution markets. (8) Identify any federal business partners your firm is working with to develop new applications for this device. (9) Identify country of origin. 4.Address the extent to which the device(s) identified meet the following specifications and security requirements: Touch screen Integrated touch screen keyboard Wi-Fi access (b/g) Wireless access offerings (3G scalable to 4G) An easy method of procuring applications and services Device offers the ability to load customer desired applications as available Weigh less than two pounds Screen Size: o Height between 7" and 11" o Width between 4" and 8" o Diameter less than 1" Minimum 8 hours of battery Standard internet browser support Support for VPN and remote access capability Microphone and Headphone jacks Camera Accessories: Car charger Wall charger Security Requirements Enterprise Management (MDM) Mobile Device Management Ability to enforce password policy (minimum 4 characters) Lockout after 10 wrong logons and automatic wipe Remote wipe capability Device encryption (FIPS 140-2) Ability to remotely upgrade the operating system Ability to upgrade installed applications Ability to auto-lock after inactivity (configurable) 5.Identify any emerging tablet(s) coming to the market that is manufactured by a small business in the USA.
