Description
Synopsis: This Request for Information (RFI) is for Market Research and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. This is NOT a Request for Proposal, Invitation for Bid, or an announcement of a solicitation. Response to this RFI is strictly voluntary and will not affect any potential offeror's ability to submit an offer if a solicitation is released. There is no bid package or solicitation document associated with this announcement. The purpose of this document is to identify potential sources, conduct market research, and develop a complete requirement. Any requests for a solicitation package will be disregarded. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of preparing submissions in response to this RFI and the Government's use of such information. Submittals will not be returned to the sender. No questions will be entertained at this time. Telephone calls are strongly discouraged. Background: The United States Marshals Service (USMS) Office of Security System's (OSS) is seeking information regarding maintenance services for their fleet of X-ray equipment. X-ray units are currently utilized at U.S. Courthouses and federally owned facilities nationwide to ensure the personal protection of the Federal judiciary, personnel, property and assets. X-ray units are used for the detection of contraband (weapons, explosives, etc.) concealed within personnel items being brought into U.S. Courthouses. Current inventory consists of Smiths Detection units, models 6046i, 6046si and 7555si. Respondents are asked to provide a response for each of the following questions or comments. All responses should correspond with the number and/or letter for each question/comment. Responses should not exceed seven (7) pages, double-spaced in 12 point font. 1. Describe any certifications or qualifications required for your service technicians to repair various manufacturers X-ray equipment. 2. Describe any training that your service support personnel would receive and the frequency of that training. 3. Identify any previous experience servicing and maintaining various X-ray units, specifically to any federal agencies. a. Describe your experience providing X-ray service to federal facilities. 4. Describe your firm's ability to obtain new factory parts specific to various X-ray manufacturers. 5. Describe your firm's ability to provide service in the United States, including Guam, Saipan, U.S. Virgin Islands, Alaska and Puerto Rico. 6. How long after receipt of an order (ARO) are technicians typically able to be at a location with parts ready to provide service? 7. Identify whether your service technicians are capable of calibrating, radiation testing and performing functional verification so that all X-ray system components are operational when servicing each X-ray machine. 8. Describe any service reports that are currently available to your customers. 9. Describe your firm's customer service support program and support protocols. 10. Identify the X-Ray equipment that your firm currently services, and/or are certified to service. 11. Identify your firm's availability on GSA Schedule, including schedule contract number and associated special item numbers (SIN).
