- The Mallory Pier is located at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, NY. The Pier is used primarily by the Liberator, Coast Guard and other vessels. It provides access to floating docks and protects Hague Basin from waves off the Long Island Sound. The project includes: - Demolition of the existing timer pier and existing timer dolphins - Temporary removal of rip-rap located along the Long Island Sound side of the pier to facilitate installation of new piles - Construction of a new concrete pier with a similar footprint at the existing pier - New timber wave fence system that provides wave protection/attenuation for Hague Basin - New fender system to assist in berthing and mooring on the east side of the pier - N ew civil, electrical, and mechanical utilities including sanitary, potable water, lighting, and electrical distribution - T he reuse of existing floating docks - New timer platform to access the floating docks adjacent to the new concrete pier and existing solid pier
