- Description
- THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Centers Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention contemplate award of a Firm Fixed Price Sole Source Purchase Order to Gladson Interactive, LLC (Lisle, IL). The work shall be performed at the Contractor's facility. The Period of Performance shall be for 24 months. The North American Industrial Classification Standards (NAICS) Code is 541990 and Standard Business Size of $6.5M. The sole source award will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b) only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement. This requirement is a continuation of services already provided and is not set aside for small businesses. The Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention is supported by Congress in its efforts to decrease sodium intake and reduce cardiovascular disease. The Gladson Nutrient Database is uniquely positioned to provide data that will take advantage of the breadth of its content to investigate the sodium content of packaged foods sold throughout grocery stores in the U.S. This database consists of all 160,000 packaged grocery foods with UPC code, brand name, product name, and nutrition facts panel. The information provided by the purchase of this data will be merged with information from other nutrient database sources for the purpose of establishing a comprehensive packaged food nutrient database, which previously did not exist. The manner in which the data are collected, maintained, and provided is proprietary in nature and it is this proprietary process that makes this particular dataset unique to the fulfillment of the needs of this project. This comprehensive nutrient database will continue to be used to track key foods that are major contributors to sodium intake in the U.S. The results of this investigation are crucial to the tracking of the sodium content of foods sold in the U.S., which is an important step in reducing cardiovascular disease. CDC is not requesting competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the services required are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, by April 6, 2012. Determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will assume all financial costs for preparing a response to this notice. The U.S. Government assumes no financial obligation for the preparation and distribution of prepared responses. Inquiries may be sent to Monica Shaw via email at vwk1@cdc.gov.
