Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (PMA 226), H-46 Program Office, will be hosting an H-46 helicopter International Day on the afternoon of Monday, 16 April 2012. This event is scheduled concurrently with, and in close proximity to, the 2012 Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition which will be held in the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland. The exact location is still to be determined and will be announced via separate notice. As the US Marine Corps' medium-lift Fleet transitions to the MV-22 Osprey, H-46 aircraft will be available for Foreign Military Sales (FMS). An International Day will be conducted to provide an opportunity for interested representatives to view a static display of the aircraft, discuss the capabilities of the H-46 with aircrew and maintainers, and interact with potential industry partners. The H-46 is a tandem rotor helicopter powered by the T58 engine that provides medium lift capability and dynamic versatility. As the workhorse of the Marine Corps aviation fleet, the H-46 supports diverse missions including, but not limited to, combat troop insertion and assault support, search and rescue (SAR), casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), transport of equipment and supplies, VIP transport, and worldwide humanitarian assistance. The US Marine Corps has made substantial investments in the H-46, making the aircraft that are leaving the United States inventory the safest, most capable H-46's ever to have flown. Rigorous depot-level maintenance has yielded an airframe with potentially unlimited service life. With a robust industrial base, low maintenance man-hours per flight hour and cost per flight hour, and high operational availability, the H-46 is a superior medium-lift helicopter for United States allies and partners. Attendees to this event will be provided access to the aircraft via a static display. Senior U. S. military pilots and aircrew will be on hand to discuss capabilities and to answer questions about recent deployments and operational considerations. This event will also be an opportunity for members of industry to interact with PMA 226 representatives, members of the security assistance community, and potential FMS customers. It is anticipated that there will be multiple countries that are interested in procuring these aircraft via the FMS process. Future H-46 FMS may generate opportunities for commercial industry to provide a broad spectrum of supplies and services including, but not limited to, all levels of aircraft maintenance, modifications, supply support, transportation, in country technical support, transportation, training, and engineering, logistics, or other technical assistance. Depending on the number of responses, vendors may be allowed to set up displays/exhibits in the static display area for this event. Pre-registration for the H-46 International Day is required. Attendance is limited to a maximum of 3 individuals per organization. To register for International Day, email Mr. Dean Shiffert at dean.shiffert@navy.mil with copies sent to Janice Woehrer at Janice.Woehrer@navy.mil and Christina Stone at Christina.Stone@navy.mil.
