- Description
- The Department of the Interior's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation & Enforcement intends to release an Invitation for Bid (IFB), Solicitation No. S12PS00020, for Michigan Shaft Group 1 on or about April 19, 2012. NAICS 237990 is applicable. Estimated price range is $500,000 - $1,000,000. Work will consist of drilling and grouting at five different sites to determine the location of abandoned underground coal mine shafts. Two sites are located in Bangor Township, Bay County, Michigan. Two sites are located in the City of Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, and one site is located in Saginaw Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. Sonic continuous-core drilling will be performed at all sites to determine the location and size of the shafts. In addition, the shafts at each location may be grouted, depending upon the nature of the backfill material found in the shafts. Grout will consist of various cement grout mixes and will be pumped into the shaft via casings from the drilling. Work also includes development and implementation of an anchoring system with tether line for work-site safety, as well as minor backfilling, and site restoration. The IFB will result in a single, firm fixed price contract to be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. No hard copies of the IFB will be issued. Amendments, if any, will also be posted on FedConnect. MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference will be held on or about May 2, 2012. Bids will be due on or about May 24, 2012. Contractors must have an ACTIVE Central Contractor Registration at https://www.bpn.gov/ccr, and complete the Online Representations and Certifications Application at https://orca.bpn.gov to be eligible for award.
