- The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with Biologics, Inc., 33 North Garden Avenue, Suite. 825, Clearwater, FL 33755, to have them furnish and install three (3) of their Auto Vector "Dolphin" Surgical table Surfaces, at it's University Drive, Pittsburgh Division, to replace the tops on two existing 3600B Ultraslide surfaces and one Steris CMAX surface. It is essential to the Government's needs that it purchases the Auto Vector Surgical table surface, a.k.a. the "Dolphin" is solely manufactured by Biologics Inc. in Clearwater Florida and is the only item of its kind on the market. The Dolphin is the only O.R. table surface to offer fluid immersion simulation technology. The Dolphin surface is the only O.R. table surface connected to a computer algorithm that, when a patient is placed on the pad, automatically measures the density, weight and surface area of the patient's body and precisely adjusts the density of air in the mattress to simulate buoyancy. Any time the patient's position on the pad changes, the computer automatically responds and re-profiles the air in the mattress to keep the fluid immersion simulation intact. The request to purchase this specific new custom made O.R. table tops for patient safety is supported strongly by the Patient Safe Handling Committee. Biologics, Inc. is the Sole Exclusive Seller and installer of their Auto Vector "Dolphin" surgical table surfaces. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest; accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than 3/26/2012 COB. Responses should be sent to ronald.mazzei@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 339112, and the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees.
