Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Space Launch System (SLS) AdvancedDevelopment (AD) which was posted on March 5, 2012. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Marshall Space Flight Center(MSFC) hereby issue the NASA Research Announcement (NRA) entitled Space Launch System(SLS) Advanced Development (AD). Industry and academia comments and questions are due nolater than 1:00 p.m. CST on April 10, 2012. Industry and academia are encouraged tosubmit their comments and questions as generated and not hold them until April 10, 2012.The NRA will be in support of the SLS Program and will solicit proposals from bothindustry and academia for innovative development concepts in key technology areas. Theseconcepts should improve SLS affordability, reliability or performance within aconstrained fiscal schedule. In addition to soliciting innovative proposals fromindustry, this NRA is also seeking focused proposals from academic entities. Includingacademia provides an added benefit of improving science, technology, engineering, andmathematics (STEM) education. NASA is seeking innovative proposals in both broad and focused areas of interest ortopics. The topics include, but are not limited to, the following:Advanced Development for Concept Development, Trade and AnalysesAdvanced Development in PropulsionAdvanced Development in Manufacturing, Structures, and MaterialsAdvanced Development in Avionics and SoftwareDocuments related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. Thesedocuments will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWWbrowser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/MSFC Business Opportunitieshome page is http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=D&pin=62 Offerors are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation andany amendments.
