Description
NASA/JSC has a requirement for a quantity of one Bruker QUANTAX Crystalign 200iElectron Backscattered Detection system (EBSD).NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Bruker Nano. The EBSD will be purchased tointerface with a Carl Zeiss 55VP Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). This SEM iscurrently configured with a Bruker Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS) system. It isnecessary that the EDS and EBSD share the SEM beam to allow simultaneous data acquisitionwith both systems. Utilizing the proprietary Bruker software is the only way to allowthe EDS and EBSD to share control of the SEM beam during the data acquisition process. If the beam control is not shared, the associated computers compete and errors occur withthe existing hardware.Only the Bruker Quantax CrystAlign 200i EBSD will functionproperly the existing Bruker EDS.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon March 20, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The installation Ombudsman is LauriHansen and can be reaced at lauri.n.hansen@nasa.gov.
