- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with JEOL USA, Inc. in Peabody, MA for preventative maintenance and repair services for one (1) JEOL Model JXA-8500F, Electron Probe Microanalysis Instruments. JEOL USA is the only source that can provide preventative maintenance and repair services for this equipment as they are the sole manufacturer and sole authorized service/maintenance provider. In addition, the technology and parts are proprietary to the company. The resulting Purchase Order will be for one base year. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $19.0M or less. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by March 23, 2012 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
