- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, with National Physics Laboratory (NPL) Ltd in the UK for the purchase of Urban Verified Composite (UVC) and High-Purity 243 am Isotope that shall be used for forensic research purposes. NPL is the only responsible source that manufactures a UVC matrix reference material and the high purity 243Am isotope dilution reference materials with the required composite mix to meet our specific requirements. NPL is uniquely qualified to satisfy this requirement. NPL provides radionuclide reference materials to the world measurement community. In this case, both the high purity Am-243 and the UVC are unique proprietary materials that only NPL can provide. Delivery shall be within ten (10) months from date of award and shall be FOB Destination. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 325188, and the size standard is 500 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by March 23, 2012. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
