- Description
- I. General Intention A. Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for the replacement of two (2) outdated; problematic air handling units (AHU's), return fans (RF's), and associated equipment in the Building #1 attic. Work will include abatement of asbestos material from pipe/joints. Existing louver/ louvers will be removed to gain access to attic equipment. Work will require removal of AHU's and installation of new units, and install new louver/damper assemblies as required. Work will include replacing duct work. Ducts will be replaced in the chase as shown on the drawings just past the top floor branch. Work will include replacing control devices, dampers, and alarms. New AHU's and RF's will be connected to the existing Siemens energy management system for proper monitoring and control. Test and balance to insure proper airflow will be conducted and approved by the Medical Center Engineer Officer at the completion of the project as required by drawings and specifications. B. Site visit information will be published with the solicitation. C. Prior to commencing work, general contractor shall provide proof that a OSHA certified "competent person" (CP) (29 CFR 1926.20(b)(2) will maintain a presence at the work site whenever the general or subcontractors are present. II. Statement of Bid Items A. ITEM I, Replacement of Attic AHU's for Building 1 at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, Murfreesboro Campus, 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Work includes alterations, mechanical and electrical work necessary removal of existing structures and construction and certain other items. B. Alternate No. 1: Change fanwall technology supply fans in air handling units to centrifugal plenum fans to provide air flow as scheduled. C. Alternate No. 2: Change variable frequency drives from 18-pulse drives (or ultra-low frequency) to 12-pulse drives. D. Alternate No. 3: Delete demolition of existing chilled water piping, installation of new chilled water piping and insulation, replacement of chilled water pumps and hot water pumps, their respective variable frequency drives and associated electrical work required. Please provide separate prices for Item#1; Alternate No.1; Alternate No.2 and Alternate No.3. III. Magnitude of construction The magnitude of this requirement is between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000. IV. Place of Performance The place of performance will be: Alvin C. York Medical Center, 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37129
