Description
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Head Start (OHS) administers a nationwide comprehensive child development program serving eligible children from birth to five and their families. The Head Start program is child and family focused and has the overall goal of helping children from low-income families become ready to succeed in school. Funds are provided through grants to local public agencies, private organizations and Indian tribes. These organizations provide services in early childhood development and education, health, dental health, mental health, nutrition and parent involvement. The purpose of the Head Start Region XI and Region XII Training/Technical Assistance (T/TA) and Collaboration Center is to provide targeted training and technical assistance to individual grantees and groups of grantees serving Region XI and Region XII. The T/TA provides grantees with quality, sustained, and intensive training and technical assistance that, "to the maximum extent practicable," improves the capacity of programs to deliver services that meet or exceed the standards described in Section 641(A)(a)(1) of the Head Start Act, with the following as priorities: - Correction of deficiencies - School readiness - Training/career development needs of staff
