- The Central Receiving Office within the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) intends to ask a DOT Contracting Officer to exercise Option Year FY 2012 as set forth in Line Item No. 0003 and in Line Item No. 0004 of DOT's existing Purchase Order No. DTOS59-10-P-00176. Each of those Line Items has a value of $23,287.50, so the aggregate combined value of the contemplated Option-exercising is $46,575. Line Item No. 0003 calls for the existing contractor, Symplicity Corporation, to provide, to DOT, hosting and maintenance for a Transportation Integrated Printing Tracking System (TIPTS) for a one-year period; and Line Item No. 0004 calls for Symplicity to provide, to DOT, technical support for the TIPTS system for a one-year period. DOT believes that the exercising of that Option Year FY 2012, under that existing Symplicity Purchase Order No. DTOS59-10-P-00176, would be the most advantageous method of fulfilling the Government's need, price and other factors considered, as required by section 17.207 (c) (3) of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Nevertheless, DOT is publishing this Special Notice in order to satisfy the FAR's requirement that the Option be synopsized. Therefore, notwithstanding DOT's plan to fulfill its need by simply exercising the Option, any interested person or organization (other than Symplicity) may e-mail, to james.mowery@dot.gov and to Leisca.White@dot.gov, by 11:59 PM March 16, 2012, a Statement of Qualifications and a Cost Proposal attempting to prove that the submitter can fulfill the Government's need more advantageously than could Symplicity, price and other factors considered.
