- Description
- Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), Arnold AFB, Tennessee has a base bid requirement for inspection and analysis to verify structural integrity of an existing crane bridge and building structure to carry proposed 25 ton load (20 ton main/5 ton auxiliary hook) and new trolley. In addition, an option to provide upgrades to existing crane including a 25 Ton (20 Ton Main/5 Ton Auxiliary Hook) capacity crane with new trolley, hoists, hooks, controls, motors, breaks, and electrification. Demolish the existing trolley, hoist, and the associated motors, controls, and brakes. Replace the existing open wire runway electrification. Work is to be done at Arnold AFB, TN. Estimated Period of Performance: 250 Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed (Including Options) Background: The existing overhead bridge crane 20-322 was manufactured and installed in approximately 1954. The crane spans 70 feet from runway rail to runway rail and extends the full length of facility. The existing crane has both a 15-Ton main hook and a smaller 5-Ton Auxiliary hook. The existing building structure was designed for two 20-Ton cranes, only one crane was installed. The total estimated magnitude, including the options, is between $100,000 and $250,000. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 238290 with business size of $14,000,000 average annual receipts. Invitation for Bids (IFB) will be available electronically on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) web page at http://www.fbo.gov.or about 14 Mar 2012. Proposal due date will be on or about 17 Apr 2012. No hard copies, faxes, or emails will be available. Please register as a source to be notified of IFB Amendments, Clarifications, etc. However, it is the responsibility of the contractors (even those registered as a source) to check the FBO website frequently to ensure they have all available information.
