Description

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate a sole source purchase order with Balfurd, Inc., 2467 Park Avenue, P.O. Box 109, Tipton, PA 16684 under authority of FAR 6.302-1 - only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Balfurd is VAPHS' incumbent bulk laundry and linen services contractor, and VAPHS is transitioning to a new contractor on 3-1-12. Balfurd's continued laundry/linen services at two (2) of the three (3) VAPHS divisions are required during the phase-in period for the new contract during March 2012, as well as services prior to and on the transition day for each of the three sites to collect Balfurd's linens. The VAPHS must have uninterrupted laundry and linen services during this transition period, and these services are covered under FAR 52.237-3, Continuity of Services, in Balfurd's contract #V244-12-C-0029. The P.O. will cover the period 2-29-12 - 3-31-12 (estimated). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quote.
