- Description
- NASA Ames Research Center has a requirement for a one-year, plus four one-yearoption periods, Service Maintenance Agreement for one FEI XL30 environmental scanningelectron microscope (ESEM) system. The XL30 ESEM is an advanced imaging system requiringperiodic routine maintenance and upgrades that are essential to maintain optimal functionof the equipment.NASA Ames Research Center intends to purchase this service from FEI Company of Hillsboro,OR 97124 under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), One source reasonably available. FEI isthe OEM provider and has uniquely qualified personnel to maintain and service thisinstrument.The service maintenance agreement shall include the following: 1) Specifically trainedpersonnel who are qualified technicians for the XL30 ESEM imaging system; 2) Labor,travel and replacement parts, including system software and/or software upgrades asrequired; 3) Two scheduled maintenances per contract period, includes ordinary repairsand adjustments arising from normal usage, including a compliance review of theequipment, cleaning and alignment as necessary; 4) Emergency repair service as required;5) Telephone support. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the procurementwill be conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth under FAR Part 13. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:00 p.m. Pacifictime on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluatedsolely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
