- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 13, as applicable, and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is N62271-12-Q-1002 and is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ), unless otherwise indicated herein. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-55. The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334511 with a small business size standard of 500.00 employees. FOB Destination shall be Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA New Equipment ONLY; NO remanufactured or "gray market" items. All items must be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Naval Postgraduate School Oceanography Department (OC) River Experiment Equipment The NPS OC Dept. presently owns 3 Oceanscience Group Catamaran Riverboats customized to mount Nortek Aquadopp ADCPs. Riverboats serve as mobile or re-locatable platforms for mounting of various sensors including but not limited to: Nortek ADCPs, RBR CTDs, and WetLabs Fluorometers. Catamarans currently owned have proven to be reliable and highly configurable. My research requires mobile platforms to sample various dynamic and rapidly changing properties over broad areas to describe hydrodynamic phenomena including water motion, energy transfer, and spatial structure in coastal waters, inlets, estuaries and rivers. This commerical equipment purchase is going to be FAR 6.302-1 (a)(ii) The NPS OC Dept. presently owns 3 Oceanscience Group custom Aquadopp mount Catamaran Riverboats. These vessels have proven to be extremely reliable and reconfigurable, and Oceanscience Group has been a valuable partner in designing these custom vessels to suit our needs precisely. Oceanscience Group Riverboats are unique products perfectly suited to the reconfiguration and mobility requirements inherent in the OC departments research. 3 more identical vessels are required. Expanded capability and payload of the MegaMarans has been designed specifically to the NPS OC departments needs. Attached Brand Name Sole Source Justification RFQ
