- NOTIFICATION OF REQUEST FOR QUOTATION PROJECT INFORMATION: Timber Stand Improvement with chainsaws. The project will release preferred crop trees on a grid spacing of approximately 40 x 40 feet, which will release approximately 27 trees per acre. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, supervision, supplies and perform all work required to accomplish timber stand improvement on 650.9 acres of National Forest land. The contractor shall select the crop trees according to the attached specifications. Preferred crop trees will be saplings and small pole-sized trees. The contractor will select well- formed (straight) vigorous, dominant or co-dominant crop trees, in the following descending order of crop tree preference, depending on their occurrence: northern red oak, cherry, ash, black oak, hickory, white oak, chesnut oak, yellow poplar, scarlet oak, hemlock, and pine, except in contract area 12, where white pine will be the preferred species. GOVERNMENT ESTIMATE: Between $25,000 and $50,000 LOCATION: The project areas are located within the boundaries of the James River and Warm Springs Ranger Districts of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests in Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt and Highland counties Virginia. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 161 days from effective date of Notice to Proceed SITE VISIT INFORMATION: A pre-bid site visit has not been scheduled. If a site visit is scheduled the information will be included in the solicitation package when posted to FBO. CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS: Contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and must have completed a profile in the Online-Representations and Certifications (ORCA) database prior to award of a contract. Registration may be completed on the Internet at http://www.ccr.gov/ (for CCR) and on the Internet at http://www.bpn.gov (for ORCA). You must be registered in CCR and have an MPIN number before you can begin ORCA registration. SET-ASIDE: This procurement is set-aside for small business concerns. The NAICS code for this project is 115310 and the size standard is $7.0 million. PAYMENT PROTECTION INFORMATION: No bonds required. SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS: Request for Quotation Number AG-3395-S-12-0005 and any related documents will be issued via FedBizOpps and will be available for downloading on or around February 10, 2012 at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. Quotations must be submitted by March 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm. Award will be made based on the best value to the Government, price and other factors considered.
