The proposed six month extension will provide armed guard services until completion of the full and open competition for a replacement contract. Any interested parties must hire and train the necessary workforce to include background checks. Guards will not be allowed to take up positions without a prior background check. A lapse in service would place the facility at risk and jeopardize the mission. Changes for the follow-on requirement are expected. The Government estimates that the allowing for full and open competition for the proposed contract would take 4-6 months. The Government estimates that the new contractor will need a 30-60 day mobilization period. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal or quotation, which shall be considered by this agency. A follow-on competitive action is in process.
