THIS IS A SYNOPSIS OF PROPOSED CONTRACT ACTION. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR INVITATION FOR OFFERORS TO SUBMIT BIDS. THIS NOTICE WILL BE POSTED FOR A MINIMUM OF 15 DAYS PRIOR TO POSTING OF THE SOLICITATION. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) anticipates issuance of solicitation IFBP04091200001 for the award of a firm fixed-price contract for removal of asbestos at United States Penitentiary (USP) Marion, IL. USP Marion is a federal correctional facility located at 4500 Prison Road, Marion, IL 62959. The project consists of furnishing all equipment, materials, and labor for the complete work. The work is required within the confines of the secure perimeter specifically within building #13, Food Service crawl space, and building #22, Facilities crawl space. This work will require the removal of approximately 5400 linear feet of asbestos insulated covered pipe and elbows. All work will be located in the tunnels and crawl spaces under each of the buildings. The performance period for the project will be 119 calendar days from issuance of notice to proceed. Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation 36.204, the magnitude of the project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The solicitation will be available on or about February 13, 2012. The solicitation will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's (GSA) Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fedbizopps.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be made available. The website provides download instructions. All future information about this solicitation, including any amendments, will also be distributed solely through this website. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most recent information about this proposed contract action. The NAICS code for this requirement is 562910 with a small business size standard of $14 million. Any contractor interested in obtaining a contract award with the Federal Bureau of Prisons must be registered at www.ccr.gov and http://orca.bpn.gov. Any prospective bidder's ORCA registration must include the applicable NAICS code (562910) for this acquisition. Faith-based and Community-based organizations can submit offers/bids/quotations equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. This is a 100 percent small business set-aside.
