The four existing Rotork IQS35Z slide gate actuators, 2 regulating (downstream) and 2 emergencies (upstream) do not provide enough torque to properly and safely operate the gates at the design operating head of 40-feet. These four existing actuators (see attached Figures 3 and 4) utilize single-phase motors and do not develop adequate torque for the design operating head of 40-feet. 1.2In order to obtain actuators which are rated for the full design operating head, a three-phase motor actuator will be needed. The incoming power to the Lower Two Medicine Dam gate house shall be modified to a three-phase power source to accommodate the installation and safe operation of the new higher torque actuators. 2.0SCOPE: The principal components of work required are described below. Design and drawings will be provided by BOR. 2.1Electrical Service Upgrade: Three-phase power has been extended by the local electrical co-operative to a pole located approximately 150 feet from the Lower Two Medicine Dam gate house. The contractor shall extend the three-phase power to the gate house by running underground with conduit which contains incoming power conductors. The existing single phase power shall remain active during most of the electrical upgrades within the building. The three-phase conversion shall happen when three-phase power is brought into the site and when single-phase equipment must be removed to accommodate the new three-phase power installation. 2.1.1The contractor shall remove the existing 240/120 volt single-phase service and associated service equipment, and provide new 480 volt three-phase service. Equipment consisting of meter socket, service disconnect switch, and manual transfer switch. 2.1.2The contractor shall provide a complete electrical system for the new 480 volt distribution system and new slide gate motor actuators consisting of; distribution panel board, transformer and load center, grounding and bonding, conductors and cables, conduit systems, and providing all electrical drawings and data required in the "Section" attachments included with this statement of work. 2.1.3The contractor shall minimize interruption to the existing 240 volt power supply to the existing gate actuators when converting the existing 120/240 volt single-phase service over to the new 480 volt, three-phase power service. The existing gates shall remain operational until the new gate actuators arrive on site and an outage is granted. All conduit and wiring associated with the new 480 volt power supply for the new gate actuators shall be in place and ready for final connection prior to removing the existing gate actuators. 2.2Mechanical Equipment: The contractor shall remove the four existing slide gate motor operator lifts and provide four new slide gate motor operator lifts and appurtenant equipment; and provide all mechanical drawings and data required in the "Section" attachments included with this SOW.
