- Description
- RFI Detail The Department of Justice (DOJ) is issuing this Request For Information (RFI) to identify contractors capable of providing Recorder Kits identified in the attached RFI. THE DOJ WILL NOT AWARD A CONTRACT OR PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED IN RESPONSE TO THIS SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE. The information received as a result of this request will serve as a market and technology survey to assist the DOJ in its development strategy for Video Recorder Kits. BACKGROUND: The DOJ has an operational requirement to record video in a variety of situations. The DOJ has existing, acceptable solutions for traditional video recording requirements. However, the DOJ is seeking a cohesive solution for hard drive based, portable and mobile video recording. This requirement is for the product design, sample submission, production, and technology updates of a portable, hard drive based video recorder that can be used in 1) a rapid deployment, portable environment or 2) a long term mobile environment. The DOJ is seeking a packaged, hardware based solution that is compatible with video recording software already acquired by the DOJ. The DOJ is not interested in just a small computer that can run the DOJ software, but a complete, turnkey hardware solution including a suitable monitor, embedded keyboard and mouse/trackpad solution, removable hard drive interfaces, power connections, and mounting plates for associated hardware (modem, router, etc.). Because the requested recorder will be used in both portable and mobile applications, the DOJ is requesting a single, versatile solution, allowing the DOJ to use the recorder in either application interchangeably while also making it easier for the DOJ to maintain the equipment. The DOJ has some initial ideas regarding equipment configuration and layout based upon a fit-PC3 form factor ( http://www.fit-pc.com/web/ ), but the DOJ has not tested this configuration and cannot certify that an acceptable Fit-PC can be found. Contractors are encouraged to explore options and provide reliable and innovative solutions to the DOJ. See attachment for additional details.
