- Description
- This is a Request for Information (RFI) in regards to a NAVAIR requirement for providing repair of a Lucas Horizontal Boring Mill, used for manufacturing components for the U.S. Navy. NAVAIR Lakehurst, NJ seeks potential sources and no cost product information for providing repair of a Lucas Horizontal Boring Mil. This RFI is for planning purposes and information only and should not be construed as a solicitation for applications or an obligation on the part of the government. Background In order to expand shop capability, NAVAIR Lakehurst has a requirement for providing repair of a Lucas Horizontal Boring Mill with the following specifications: The Lucas Boring Mill was manufactured in 1965. Several mechanical issues have limited the machine's capabilities. The current problems include: -Highest and lowest gears are inoperative. -Table motion is inconsistent along table axis. -Electronics cabinet and control pendant are obsolete and difficult to maintain. -Machine does not hold the tolerances necessary for our work. Services to be provided include: -repair of spindle gearbox -restoring full range of motion to all axes -Retrofit for CNC capability -All design and engineering services necessary to complete the above tasks Information Requested Information in the following areas will assist NAVAIR Lakehurst in the development of its procurement strategy. Qualified vendors should provide the following: Product Literature: Brochures, catalogs, or other documents listing available repair of a Lucas Horizontal Boring Mill -Service literature: brochures, catalogs, or other documents listing repair and retrofit services provided. -Repair and retrofit history with horizontal boring mils. -Warranty information for repair work. Lucas Horizontal Boring Mill Model Number: 542B84 Serial Number: 42B3606 ** It is preferred that all measurements be stated in US Standard units. Responses should cite RFI number N68335-12-RFI-8001 and be addressed to the attention of Ms Hillary Sheehan Code: 2.5.2.5.2. ; Email: hillary.sheehan@navy.mil. All responses are due by 30 January 2012. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation MAY NOT necessarily result from this RFI. The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. The Government will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside of the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend.
