- ADDITIONAL DETAILS: RESPONSE DATE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 27 12PM MST DELIVERY DATE is now a ‘best value' evaluation factor (Price, delivery, past performance). THIS IS NOT A SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE. ONLY PRICE PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO SMALL BUSINESS We don't expect to get a special melt. We do want to check for micro alloying elements however to make sure that the steel meets our requirement (or is very close to it). We have check some production 9310 steels and find that some of the 9310 steels being produced meet our requirements (but the steel makers don't check these elements). We want to use a 9310 composition that is a commercial product. However, we think that setting requirements for micro alloy elements is needed to reduce variability in our product. We have purchased some 9310 round bar off-the-shelf from 3 different suppliers to do initial studies. Our next step here is to get a slightly larger quantity, rolled square, and start to establish compositional requirements.
