Description
The Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Regional Office, on behalf of the Bureau of Indian Education, is issuing this solicitation for Professional Services (Math Consultant) for the Tohono O'odham High School, located in a semi-remote area of Southern Arizona, on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation, Sells, Arizona. The Bureau of Indian Affairs intends to issue a firm fixed price contract for these services. The solicitation is a set-aside for Small Businesses. The services are classified under NAICS Code 611430. This solicitation will be available immediately (January 19, 2012). The contractor to provide Math Professional Development and technical assistance to the Tohono O'odham High School during the 2011-2012 school year. The purpose is to support effective implementation of the tiered math curriculum. OBJECTIVES: Support leadership in designing and managing a research-based 3-tier model for math instruction. Implement the 3-tier model in math instruction. Increase teaching staff skills in implementation of scientifically based math instruction for all levels of student learning needs. Support processes required for skillful preparation for increased AIMS math performance. Conduct studies and research to generate data for school improvement and use the information for reporting, planning, staff development, technical assistance and training.TASKS:1. The Math Consultant will provide monthly math instruction/technical support visits. These support visits will focus on the components required for effective tiered math instruction.2. These monthly (2-day) visits will include lesson planning, classroom observations, modeling, and debriefings with teaching staff, coaching the principal in researchd-based high school leadership best practices.3. Detailed reports, including explicit follow-up tasks, will be provided at the end of each visit.4. Professional development for all staff and for targeted staff needs will be provided to support the effective implementation of action planning, including the 3-tier model, integrated preparation for the AIMS test, and other topics as needed to ensure excellent math instruction.5. Visits will focus on facilitating data analysis, instructional co-planning, scheduling and modeling. Modeling for staff will be provided as appropriate.Effectiveness of this support will be measured by staff self-evaluation and by increases in student learning as evidenced by increased AIMS math scores. The Consulant must be certified for teaching math development in the State of Arizona and must provide credentials and references with their quotation. Two-day visits are required each month. The Math Consultant will check in with the School Principal at each visit. The performance period is from February 1, 2012 ending September 30, 2012. These services may be extended with Option Years, depending on the success of this project. Estimated Rountrip Miles to Sells, AZ: ________Lodging, per government rates for Pinal/Pima County, AZRental Car must be a compact vehicle, from a recognized rental agency. The consultant will be reimbursed for mileage, rental car, lodging, and misc incidental expenses incurred during visits; retain all receipts for rebursements, in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations. - - - Email all questions to Geraldine Williams, Purchasing Agent, at geraldine.williams@bia.gov.
