- Synopsis - National Laser Users? Facility (NLUF) Target Support Contract Solicitation Number: DE-SOL-0003645 January 19, 2012The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) sponsors the National Laser Users' Facility (NLUF) at the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics (UR/LLE). The NLUF provides qualified university and industry researchers access to experimental shot time on the OMEGA Laser Facility. This provides a unique environment for experiments in inertial fusion and high-energy-density physics. Experimental time that has been awarded through peer-reviewed NLUF solicitations includes investigations of: inertial confinement fusion physics, laser plasma interactions, laboratory astrophysics, properties of materials under extreme pressure conditions, XUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) Spectroscopy, high intensity laser-matter interactions, and instrumentation development. More information on NLUF is available at: http://www.lle.rochester.edu/about/nluf.php. The scope of this work is to provide some, but not all, of the target support for the NLUF Program. The contract is anticipated to be Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) for a five year period of performance (three year basic contract period followed by one two-year option period).
