- Per request from industry, a brief synopsis of the MDCA Architecture is being provided: The MDCA architecture is characterized by a federated network of subsystems, devices, and software services that communicate across a core IP network. The subsystems will interface to the network by way of a common set of open-standard protocols, and allow other subsystems and/or user interface applications to access or control their functionality. Subsystems will provide a means of performing automatic service discovery, and will implement security and access control measures to meet information assurance requirements. The intent of the MDCA architecture is to provide: - Consolidated user interface(s) for accessing multiple subsystems - Reduced space, weight, and power (SWaP) requirement on a vehicle platform - Improved interoperability between subsystems - Increased subsystem modularity and reduction of proprietary interfaces - Allow for new functionality through software applications (sensor fusion, slew-to-cue, location-based services, etc.) - Facilitate rapid integration of new subsystems
