Description
NASA/DFRC has a requirement for One (1) Rockwell Collins EP-1000CT/LCOS ProjectorVisual System (Upgrade Kit) consisting of the following components: One (1), three (3)channel refurbished EP-1000CT Image Generator configured for 50Hz operation, one (1),four (4) window projector monitor unit (PMU), installation kit and documentation, airportmodel package, documentation and diagnostics, and associated technical installation andintegration support. The upgrade kit will be utilized to upgrade the NASA owned PhaseII/Level C B747-200 flight training simulator located at the United Airline (UAL)training facility in Denver, Colorado. Based upon logistics, operations, maintenance, training, and system configurationconsiderations (including software requirements), NASA/DFRC intends to purchase theupgrade kit directly from Rockwell-Collins Visual Systems, 600 Komas Drive, Salt LakeCity, UT 84108 because Rockwell-Collins is the only known company in United States thatmanufactures the EP-1000CT visual system. Note: All the NASA visual systems onsimulators located at the Ames Research Center (the contemplated future location of theflight simulator) are utilizing the Rockwell-Collins EP-1000CT.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon February 2, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
