- Description
- Synopsis: The contractor is to provide all labor, materials, equipment and supervision as required for the project. The Capitol Power Plant (CPP), commissioned in 1909, is a district heating and cooling plant that generates utility steam and chilled water for the heating and cooling of various buildings throughout the Capitol Hill Campus. The CPP uses coal, natural gas, and distillate oil to produce steam, and electricity to generate chilled water. The existing total chilled water capacity of 40,200 tons of refrigeration resides in an existing facility consisting of the West Refrigeration Plant (WRP) and the West Refrigeration Plant Expansion (WPRE). The existing four 6,000 ton WRP chillers, which utilize refrigerant R-22, were installed in 1978 and are well beyond their useful life expectancy. The WRPE has three 5,400 ton chillers were installed in 2005. This construction project will provide two new state of the art chillers including supporting equipment and controls. Additional cooling tower cells will also be added to support the new chillers. Additionally, two 3,000 ton chillers which were installed in 2003 in an adjacent facility will be relocated to the WRPE to be able to initiate the replacement process. The solicitation will be posted on or about Feb 15, 2012. Project is Subject to Availability of Funds. The estimated cost is between $25,000,000 and $50,000,000. This solicitation will be posted on Fed Biz Opps on or about February 15, 2012.
