- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Science Center, has a requirement to conduct research on polar bear body conditions through development of a biochemical metric. The requirement will include analysis of samples and travel to Alaska to discuss with USGS scientists, analyses and manuscript preparation, as well as a presentation of the project at a conference. The period of performance is one year from the date of award. The USGS intends to award on a non-competitive purchase order to Dalhousie University of Halifax, NS, Canada to perform these analyses and present the findings. The university has on staff, biochemists with experience and existing data sets in the study of polar bear fat, as well as specialized equipment necessary to conduct the research. The Government intends to award this in accordance with the procedures of FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. As required by FAR 5.101(a)(1), the forthcoming solicitation G12PS00066 will be made available through the GPE on or about 25 January 2012 whether or not competitive opportunities have been identified.
