- This is a pre-solicitation notice for Solicitation W52P1J-12-R-0003. The estimated issue date is 31 January 2012. The estimated closing date is 2 March 2012. Item: Refurbishment and manufacture of PA125 Metal Containers used for packaging 25mm training ammunition, NSN: 8140-01-347-8121, Part Number: 12576143. The PA125 Metal Containers are the outer shipping and storage containers for packing linked 25mm Cartridges. The PA125 container is a metal, rectangular container with an overall length of 14.340 inches, an overall width of 5.700 inches, and an overall height of 13,870 inches. Along with the container, the contractor will provide all new and/or refurbished internal container components with each new or refurbished container, including: Rubber Gasket 12576157, Filler Pads 12576132, Plastic Restraining Plate 12910048, and Plastic Separator Assembly 12926880. Refurbishment: The contractor will be responsible for retrieving and storing field-returned PA125 metal containers from approximately 20 locations throughout the United States. The contractor shall provide a facility capable of handling explosive materials. The contractor shall inspect the field-returned PA125 Metal Containers and internal components to determine the degree of rework required for reuse and refurbishment. Manufacture: Should the number of refurbished containers not meet the Government's requirements for PA125 metal containers, the contractor will be responsible for manufacturing new containers. Specifications: The Technical Data Package (TDP) associated with the PA125 Metal Container is coded Distribution A, Approved for Public Release; Distribution is Unlimited. A CD is available from the contract specialist which contains the complete PA125 TDP including all of the internal components. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is being issued as a 100% small business set-aside and will result in a five-year, firm-fixed-price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Because the exact number of PA125 Metal Containers needed over the next five years is not known, the Government will be awarding an IDIQ contract with delivery orders. A First Article Test will be required.
