- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for the followingCommercial item: research type Horizontal Band Sealer for sealing continuous layers ofballoon flms made of polyethylene type material. The heat sealer shall have controllableand accurate digital controls.At a minimum these variables are the temperature,pressure, and sealing speed. Other requirements are:a.Floor standing horizontal band sealer with wheels.b.Full control and monitoring of sealing parameters (Temperature, pressure, and speed). These controls shall be calibrated, and shall allow the machine to be validated.c.Seal width (6.35 mm).d.Digital adjustable temperature controller range with maximum available temperature of 275 C (525oF) +/- 2oC on each bar (jaw).e.Independent temperature controllers with digital readout and alarm, for each jaw.f.Digital temperature readout for precise temperature setting and monitoring g.Adjustable pressure on sealing jaw with digital read-out and alarmh.Data logger for recording the control variables during the sealing process. The data logger must be capable of storing the data on memory stick and/or output to an in-house computer i.Capable of sealing polyethylene type films with thicknesses that can vary from 0.25 mil to 6 mils for each layer or combination of layers. Therefore, the total thickness of the layers to be sealed can vary from 0.5 mils to 12 mils.j.Sealing speed adjustable from 150 to 600 inches per minute with digital speed control, read-out and alarmk.Ready green light for machine operation within the set parametersl.Alarm red light if one of the seal parameters is out of rangem.Emergency Stopn.Verification outputs for calibration/verification of machine controllers.o.Integral conveyor with adjustable heightp.Independent heating and cooling barsq.Operates using 115 volt electric power and 40-80 PSI compressed air for cooling.This procurement is a total small business set-aside.The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 333298 and 500, respectively. The anticipatedrelease date of RFQ number NNG12417716Q is on or about January 4, 2012 with ananticipated quotation due date of on or about January 13, 2012.NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
