- Description
- The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to award a contract on a sole source basis to Peter Kiewit Institute Technology Development Corporation, 1110 S 67th Street, PKI 301, Omaha, NE 68182, for an effort entitled 'Shielding Effectiveness of Conductive Concrete, Phase II'. The objective of this effort is to continue the development of a conductive concrete formulation that is based on taconite aggregates. The shielding effectivess of this concrete against the effects of high altitude electromagnetic pulse will be determined. Further, a test article will be made from the concrete and tested using the MIL-STD -188-125 Appendix A protocol. Additional testing of the place/pourability, workability, and constructability of the conductive concrete will be performed as well as testing to verify its structural integrity. The goal of this effort will be to determine if this conductive concrete formulation can be used in military facilities required to be tested to MIL-STD-188-125. The statutory authority for this non-competitive action is (10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1)), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, and is supported by an approved Justification and Approval. This notice of contract action is not a request for competitive proposals; no formal solicitation will be issued as a result of this announcement.
