Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Service Agency (FSA), Aerial Photography Field Office (APFO) will conduct a briefing on January 11, 2012 in support of the anticipated Request for Proposal (RFP) for the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). When released, the RFP will be posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website, http://www.fedbizopps.gov, and the APFO website, http://www.fsa.usda.gov/FSA/apfoapp?area=home&subject=csrv&topic=bop. Attendance at the NAIP Industry Day is voluntary and is not a prerequisite to submit proposals on subsequent solicitations (if any). The Industry Day does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals or abstracts. This announcement is issued solely for information and program planning purposes and is not a Request for Information (RFI). Since this is not an RFI, no submissions against this notice will be accepted by the Government. USDA will not provide reimbursement for costs incurred to participate in this Industry Day. Interested parties to this notice are cautioned that nothing herein obligates the Government to issue a solicitation. BACKGROUND : The NAIP acquires 1-meter, 4-band aerial imagery during the agricultural growing seasons in the continental United States. A primary goal of the NAIP is to make digital orthophotography available to government agencies and the public within weeks of acquisition. NAIP has completed a successful 5-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract and is anticipating issuing a new IDIQ contract to multiple contractors in April of 2012. PURPOSE : The purpose of the NAIP Industry Day is threefold: 1. To familiarize participants with the NAIP and promote understanding of the anticipated RFP requirements; and 2. To identify potential sources; and 3. To promote discussion and comments on the draft RFP document. The industry day is open to all contractors, media, and government personnel who have registered for the event and received a registration confirmation (see Registration information listed below).
