Description
The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center, in support of Product Manager - Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment, is conducting a market research investigation for blast protective gloves. The goal of this effort is to identify firms with capabilities to provide/design/develop gloves for use by the combat Soldier during combat operations in an effort to provide additional protection over the current Army Combat Glove. The gloves must be capable of meeting critical technical and uniform requirements as follows: 1) Available in a subdued color. 2) Made of leather, inherently flame resistant materials, or a combination of the two, and all findings that will not ignite, melt, or drip onto the flesh in flash flame conditions. 3) Provide excellent dexterity and tactility with which writing with a pen/pencil and firing a weapon are easily achievable tasks. 4) Integrate textiles and/or materials designed to provide blast protection to the hand and fingers greater than current combat handwear. 5) Provide impact protection for the base of the palm as well as the knuckles. 6) Provide excellent durability when worn daily and in contact with abrasive/rough materials. 7) Wrist closure that will prevent debris from entering the glove and does not restrict timely donning and doffing. 8) Five fingered design curved and shaped to the relaxed position of the hand. 9) Have a storage loop/cord extending 1/2" from the cuff/wrist base of the glove. Interested sources must, within seven (7) days following the publication of this synopsis, respond with detailed information on their current product(s) and how they are made or could be modified to address the U.S. Army requirement. Interested sources shall include detailed information regarding their firm's experience, personnel, facilities and domestic production capability. Product information should include product cost, technical information (e.g. technical literature, data and illustrations, technical certifications), performance capabilities, independent laboratory test results, and relevant company background/experience, and product sample if available. If a firm chooses to submit a sample, no payment will be made by the government for such sample. Firms should provide pricing for currently available product and/or estimated pricing for gloves currently under development. Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small business. This notice is for market research only. Responses to this notice are to be sent to Ms. Stacey Lee, U.S. Army Natick Soldier RDEC, RDNS-WPW-C, Bldg #4 Room D236, Natick, MA 01760-5019. This is not a request for quotations. No solicitation document exists. The information received under this announcement may be used to purchase items for Government testing and/or for developing acquisition strategy. Email your questions to Product Manager - Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment at Stacey.lynn.lee@us.army.mil.
