- NOAA's Acquisition & Grants Office, Western Acquisition Division - Boulder, negotiated, on a sole source basis, under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1)- Only one responsible source, with Vaisala, Inc., for the purchase of hardware components for ¼ scale 499 MHz Wind Profiler Radar to expand its profiler network by four systems. No other manufacturer was found to be able to provide 1/4 scale profiler components, only completely built full scale wind profilers. The sole source determination is based on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Earth System Research laboratory (ESRL) Physical Sciences Division's (PSD) requirement to deploy and maintain four quarter scale 449 MHz wind profilers in California. These components that are required will be integrated with other components to construct the radars. PSD requires five radar processors, five MII units, five power supplies, five TR units, and five indoor cable sets. Four each of these components will be used to construct the four radars; the fifth unit will be used as spares. 1/4 SCALE 449 MHz WIND PROFILLER RADAR COMPONENTS CONSISTING OF: RADAR PROCESSOR (1 EACH) MII UNIT (1 EACH) POWER SUPPLY UNIT (1 EACH) TR UNIT (1 EACH) INTERCONNECT CABLES (INDOOR) (1 EACH) BEAM STEERING UNIT (1 EACH) ANTENNA STICKS (26 EACH) ANTENNA STANDOFF (1 EACH) FULL ON-LINE UPS (1 EACH) LAP-XM (1 EACH) RASS (1 EACH) SPARE PARTS FOR 1/4 SCALE 449 MHz WIND PROFILER RADAR CONSISTING OF: SPARE DIAPHRAGMS (SET OF 4) (1 EACH) AUDIO AMP (1 EACH) RADAR PROCESSOR (1 EACH) MII UNIT (1 EACH) POWER SUPPLY UNIT (1 EACH) TR UNIT (1 EACH) INTERCONNECT CABLES (INDOOR) (1 EACH)
