Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/ and the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopses and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case when FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to award the FY 13 MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) Aegis Modernization (AMOD) mechanical ORDALT kits in support of CG and DDG modernization on a sole source basis to BAE Land & Armaments L.P., U.S. Combat Systems, 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1402. BAE Systems is the only firm with the requisite expertise, knowledge, experience and facilities necessary for the MK 41 VLS Mechanical production. The requirements consist of the production of MK 41 VLS AMOD module mechanical Ordnance Alteration (ORDALT) kits, interim support parts, and Provisioned Item Order (PIO) Spares in FY13. The FY13 requirements include AMOD launcher mechanical upgrade kits with delivery in support of CG and DDG modernization programs. The anticipated contract period of performance for this requirement will be from the date of contract award, estimated to be October 19, 2012, through delivery of all hardware and services. BAE Land & Armaments L.P., U.S. Combat Systems is the prime contractor for producing the MK 41 VLS mechanical modules and equipment and companies interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact BAE directly. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. As such, any submissions will not be reimbursed by the Government -- the entire cost of any submission will be at the sole expense of the offeror. However, all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
